MVTec has partnered with Nvidia to build an innovative machine-vision solution to enhance the product supervision process. MVTec’s Halcon 10 software enables inspection of production lines, assuring reliable quality of the product.
The major functions of Halcon 10 can be improved by 30 times using the Graphics processing units (GPUs) of Nvidia.
MVTec has reported that by linking Halcon 10 with GPUs of Nvidia, suppliers of machine vision systems can develop automation equipments that significantly enhance throughput. GPUs feature several parallel-processor cores to perform huge calculation workloads. The same GPU technology can be used by Halcon 10 users to enhance their progress of production work.
Wolfgang Eckstein, Managing Director of MVTec, has mentioned that product inspection equipment plays a significant role in factory automation. He added that by enhancing the speed of inspection by means of the Nvidia GPUs, Halcon 10 helps their clients to improve factory productivity and to assure quality.
According to Andy Keane, GM, Tesla business at Nvidia, GPU acceleration helps the Halcon 10 software to identify defects in the product quality, which otherwise will be left undetected in a production line. He added that the Halcon 10 software optimizes manufacture lines and offers superior-quality products, resulting in higher revenues for any firm utilizing the software.
