The IRT humanoid features a gyro sensor in its waist and a couple of force sensors included in both the arms. Its feet include 6-axis force sensors.

A couple of computers linked to a network can control the robot. Each system controls either the upper or lower half of the robot’s body. Presently, the humanoid learns to replicate human movements via motion-capture at the University of Tokyo’s Department of Mechano-Informatics.

The researchers are working on making IRT humanoid, a people-friendly robot.
