Newton Medical Center to Include Robotic Surgery Unit

Newton Medical Center (NMC) has declared that it will include an exclusive unit for robotic surgery.

Val Gleason, Vice President of Physician Services, has stated that to begin with, the da Vinci surgical robot at NMC will assist expert surgeons in performing trans-oral surgery and laparoscopy procedures.

The members of the NMC Robotics Committee are Dr. Kent Bradley, Chair, Doug Olson, Surgery Care/O.R. Director and Connie Smet, Clinical Coordinator.

The significant advantages of da Vinci-assisted procedures are the following: they are less invasive, loss of blood is minimal and recovery is faster.
