Chrysler Foundation Announces 2011 FIRST Robotic Grants

Chrysler Foundation has offered For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) robotic sponsorship worth $110,000 to 15 teams from 19 high schools in Southeastern Michigan region.

Chrysler Foundation has been supporting FIRST robotics program for the last 15 years. Scott G. Kunselman, Senior Vice President – Engineering, Chrysler Group, has stated that FIRST exposes students to science and engineering fields and is reliable with Chrysler's legacy of innovation and technology. He added that they feel happy about supporting the education of upcoming engineers of Michigan.

Around 20 employees of Chrysler Group serve as mentors to FIRST Robotics teams and they also act as contest coordinators. Teams funded by the Chrysler Foundation regularly get qualified for state level contests. 11 of its funded teams contested in the national level contest, which was held in Atlanta in 2010.
