Point Grey, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of innovative, high-performance digital cameras, today announced the addition of a new 1.3 MP global shutter CMOS to its Chameleon®3 family of USB3 Vision™ cameras.
The new Chameleon3 CM3-U3-13Y3 models are based on color and monochrome versions of the ON Semiconductor PYTHON1300, a 1/2” global shutter CMOS sensor featuring 1280 x 1024 image resolution. The camera is capable of running at 149 FPS at full resolution and up to 470 FPS in pixel binning mode. The PYTHON1300 sensor continues the legacy of its predecessor the VITA1300, maintaining the same ½” optical format, while improving on imaging performance such as temporal dark noise.
The Chameleon3 camera line combines the ease-of-use of USB 3.0, the small size and flexibility of board-level, and the most popular CCD and CMOS image sensors into an affordable package. Available in a compact 44 x 35 x 19.5 mm case or as a 40 x 31 mm board stack, the Chameleon3 is well-suited to a wide range of space-constrained applications. Other standard features include an on-camera frame buffer for image retransmission, opto-isolated GPIO with locking connection, and a hassle-free 3-year warranty.
“We are very excited about adding this new, highly competitive global shutter CMOS sensor to our Chameleon3 portfolio,” says Michael Gibbons, Director of Sales and Marketing at Point Grey. “This new model targets applications that benefit from high speed and global shutter imaging performance, making it ideal for 3D scanning, factory automation, such as bar code reading, and tracking applications such as eye, object, and gesture tracking.”
The CM3-U3-13Y3 is list priced at $350/€269 and is available to order now from Point Grey, its network of distributors, and the online store (for North American, Australian, and EU customers).
