Da Vinci Robot

Prof. Freddie Hamdy has mentioned that a formal confirmation of cost- effectiveness and treatment proficiency of the robot in contrast with traditional cancer surgeries will enable NHS to suggest robotic surgery for cancer patients requiring surgery.

Churchill hospital’s Oxford Cancer Centre has been utilizing the Da Vinci surgical robot since December 2009 and has been successfully treating several cancer patients.

The Da Vinci robot has four arms that can be precisely handled by surgeons, enabling them to perform minimally invasive surgeries. The major features of  robotic surgery include quicker recovery, shorter stay in hospital and fewer complications.
