Drexel University Researchers to Develop Piano-Playing Humanoid

Alyssa Batula and Yougmoo Kim at the Drexel University are working on building a humanoid pianist. As part of their project, they have designed a robot, which can press the white keys of the piano.

The robot is 40 cm tall and it features a pitch detection system for rectifying its incorrect notes. The researchers are working on developing two musical robots, which can play together. They have also planned to build a five-fingered humanoid measuring the same size as that of a human.
