ABB, a global leader in automation technology has received orders of value $24 million from Petrofac, to install latest automation equipment and high-tech power facilities in Abu Dhabi for ASAB Full Field Development Project which is directed by Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO). Petrofac is the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) supplier for this project.
ASAB project is one of the largest upcoming projects in Abu Dhabi which will assist ADCO in meeting its production objectives. Veli-Matti Reinikkala, Head of ABB’s Process Automation Division expressed his happiness over being a part of ASAB full field development project since it contributes to a major role in the future energy supply. He also added that ABB has more than 50 years of expertise with oil and gas projects and this partnership emphasizes their capability of supplying automated solutions required to enhance the productivity of their oil and gas clients.
It was reported that ABB will provide Petrofac, a list of power equipments like power transformers and air insulated medium voltage switch gear. MNS 3.0-type low-voltage switchgear which is highly compact and environment friendly will also be installed. In order to bring down the chemicals utilized during coating, Alu-zinc coated materials were used in this type of switch gear. ABB also provides a substation monitoring and control system and an integrated motor control system that can cover up to nine substations and one central control building. ABB’s technology also features the novel IEC61850 incorporation with smart relays for observing, directing, disturbance recovery and remote parameterization.
Mark Cowley, Project Director of Petrofac commented over working with ABB on ADCO project which is a main project for achieving Abu Dhabi’s oil production objectives.
