Physicians Regional Procures da Vinci Si Surgical Robot

Naples-based Physicians Regional Healthcare System has procured the Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci Si Surgical System along with a dual console and has become the first-ever robotics program on the West coast of Florida to include the dual console.

Joe Pinion, CEO of Physicians Regional Healthcare, expressed his pleasure in bringing the latest robotic surgery technology to the Southwest Florida people. He added that this innovative technology will offer enhanced experiences to both patients and surgeons.

During the robot-assisted procedure, a surgeon will sit at a console, which is located a few feet away from the patient. The surgeon can view an original image of the operating area and surgery is carried out through small incisions, by means of electromechanically-improved surgical instruments. The major features of the robotic surgery include reduced pain, minimum loss of blood, quicker recovery, shorter stay in hospital and improved clinical outcomes.

The new features offered by the new da Vinci Si Surgical System with dual console include improved three dimensional high definition resolution offering high-end image quality of anatomy and target tissues. These features offer surgical accuracy as well as an easy-to-use and upgraded user interface for improved ability of the operating room. The dual console enables a second surgeon to offer a da Vinci-enabled support to the other surgeon. It also offers better control and comfort to the surgeons by including new ergonomic settings.

Dr. Jay Roberts, Chief of Surgery at Physicians Regional Healthcare, has stated that the latest aspects of the da Vinci Si System will optimize several surgical methods and enhance abilities. He added that the latest robotic system highlights their determination to offer their patients better surgical solutions that are minimally invasive, more accurate and quicker recovery than current surgical methods.

Physicians Regional’s robotics surgery program features both the da Vinci Si and the da Vinci S Systems for deployment in various medical areas including colorectal surgery, gynecology, bariatric surgery, urology and otolaryngology.
