Cimarron-Memorial School to Host First LEGO League Robotics Contest

The 2010 Southern Nevada First LEGO League Championship is scheduled to be held at the Cimarron-Memorial High School gymnasium. Approximately, 40 teams from various local middle and elementary schools will contend in the competition and the event is open to public.

The First LEGO contest is the finale of 8 weeks of rigorous groundwork, in which students are supposed to utilize their analytical and engineering skills to develop and program robots by means of LEGO Mindstorms technology. The robotics teams will examine their robots and contend against others to explore methods for further improvement.

Robotics Team 987 of Cimarron-Memorial will host the contest. This team bagged the first prize in the First Robotics Las Vegas Regional Contests in 2008 and 2009. The team also won the 2007 World Championship title.
