FTC Robotics Event to be Held at the Grauer School

For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Tech Challenge (FTC) is scheduled to be held at the Grauer School, on December 18, 2010, and will be hosted by the Grauer School Shockwave Robotics FIRST Team.

It was reported that the FTC event is free, and it also encourages the participation of the public to better understand the robotic technology. The event primarily focuses on offering a platform for the contesting teams to conduct trial scrimmages, enabling them to practice in advance for the present FIRST contest season. Public can observe the scrimmages and can experience the robotic innovations.

FIRST encourages children to carry out innovations in the areas of science and technology, by involving them in several programs that develop engineering, science and technology skills. These programs also boost self-confidence and interaction.

Teams of FTC event are supposed to design, create and program their robots using engineering concepts for contending in a coalition arrangement against other teams. Each team can include a maximum of 10 students. They are supported by coaches, advisers and volunteers.

Mary Linam, one of the organizers of FTC event and a parent of Grauer School, stated that their students are offered an exciting opportunity to participate in such an inspiring event. She has mentioned that the Grauer School team won the previous year’s Tech Challenge Motivate Award for two times, showcasing the teamwork and eagerness of the students.
