Northrop Grumman Corporation is participating as one of the principal industry sponsors at the 19th annual Waddington International Air Show being held July 6-7 at RAF Waddington, Lincoln.
Visitors to the air show will be able to view the Northrop Grumman exhibit in Hangar 4, where the company's capabilities in aircraft whole life maintenance and support for the E-3D Sentry airborne early warning and control (AWACS) aircraft and its expertise in systems integration will be highlighted.
Outside the exhibition hangar, a full-scale model of Northrop Grumman's high-altitude unmanned aircraft system (UAS), the MQ-4C Triton, will be on display. The Triton UAS, being developed for the U.S. Navy, is the most advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance unmanned aircraft system ever designed for use across vast ocean areas and coastal regions. Triton is designed to fly surveillance missions of up to 24 hours duration and at altitudes of more than 10 miles, allowing coverage out to 2,000 nautical miles at a time.
"The Whole Life Support Programme for the E-3D Sentry aircraft is one of Northrop Grumman's largest single programmes in the U.K.," said Steve Hogan, sector vice president and general manager, Northrop Grumman Technical Services. "We are extremely proud of the long partnership we have built with RAF Waddington and of the contribution that we make to supporting the U.K.'s intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance capability and front-line operations. We look forward to continuing this relationship and vital support to the Sentry programme far into the future."
In 2012, Northrop Grumman, through the Sentry Project Team, played a key role in supporting the contribution made by the E-3D Sentry aircraft to air-policing security and deterrence in their role in providing air command and control capability during the London Olympic Games.
Northrop Grumman is the design organization for the E-3D Sentry fleet providing long-term U.K.-based technical support to the programme through the Joint Sentry Support Team. Working in partnership with the Sentry Project Team, Northrop Grumman provides a range of services to support the Sentry E-3D AWACS aircraft through to 2025. Northrop Grumman also provides the radar and in-service support for the radar. Members of Northrop Grumman's Joint Sentry Support Team include BAE Systems, Cobham and AAR.
