OnPoynt Flight School to Present Quadrotor Build and Fly Camp at Sci-Tech Discovery Center

Sci-Tech Discovery Center announces its inaugural Quadrotor Build and Fly Camp presented by OnPoynt Flight School to be held April 13 -14.

The weekend camp is a unique educational experience, for teens ages 14-18, to explore aerial robotics, build and fly a quadrotor, develop remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) flying skills, and accomplish real-time first responder missions.

"Sci-Tech is excited to be the first in the country presenting a Quadrotor camp offering teens both aviation flight skills and hands-on robotics training. This is an exciting chance to learn more about Aerial Robotics technology," said Paul Vinson , Executive Director of Sci-Tech Discovery Center.

The Quadrotor Build and Fly Camp curriculum was designed by OnPoynt Flight School and will be taught by military-trained pilot instructors. Camp registration is open to all interested robotic aviators ages 14-18 and additionally meets the Boy Scouts of America robotics merit badge requirements. The weekend on-site training camp accentuates development of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills.

Day One of the program includes safety and aviation training and individual flight practice to develop skills. Multiple teams of four students will apply technology and planning to build a quadrotor, designed for a specific first responder mission. Day Two highlights deploying each teams' quadrotor in mind-stretching fun and challenging scenarios.
