Vivint Home Automation System Enables Owners to Remotely Care for Pets

Vivint™, the largest home automation services company in North America, helps pet owners stay connected to their pets through home automation. In recognition of National Responsible Pet Owners Month, Vivint is raising awareness of the importance of being a caring and conscious pet parent.

Vivint’s home automation system includes features that allow pet owners to remotely care for their animals. From their smartphone, tablet or computer, Vivint customers can view live footage of their pets from installed cameras and remotely lock and unlock their doors for a pet sitter. Whether customers are on vacation, at work or running errands, it is always easy and convenient to check on their pets with the Vivint app, available for Android, BlackBerry and iPhone.

“While on a trip, we expected our dog sitter to take ample time walking, feeding and playing with our dog, Buddha,” said Vivint customer Kristine Jacobs of Santa Maria, Calif. “However, by remotely checking the front door access on our Vivint app, we noticed our sitter was only spending a few minutes in our home. We were able to call the sitter, emphasize the need for quality time with our dog, and see that Buddha was better attended to for the remainder of our trip.”

The Vivint system provides a variety of sensors to alert a pet owner of potential problems, including fire, carbon monoxide and home intruders. Customers also have the option to set up temporary pass codes to allow guest access via Vivint’s keypad lock, as well as receive notifications upon guests’ entry and departure.

“I no longer have to give people a key to my house now that I can simply assign them an access code,” said Vivint customer Bryan Sugiyama of Hilo, Hawaii. “My home automation system gives me peace of mind knowing my dogs are safe.”

Vivint customers can also ensure constant comfort for their pets with Vivint’s smart thermostat and lights and small appliance controls, which make it easy to remotely adjust the temperature, switch on a light or turn on a fan.

“One of the many benefits of a home automation system is the convenience of never being far from your pets, even when you’re away,” said Jim Nye, VP of product management at Vivint. “Vivint is deeply committed to connecting families with the things that matter most to them, especially the safety and well-being of their pets.”

With a one-time activation fee, plus a monthly monitoring charge, Vivint’s home automation system provides simple, affordable home and pet management. The Vivint solution also can manage thermostats, lighting features, and small appliances. Customers can also add or subtract products to create a unique solution that meets the needs of their homes, families, and lives.
