Baetsen Recycling Purchases ZenRobotics Recycler

The Netherlands Baetsen Recycling, Son has declared that it has acquired ‘ZenRobotics Recycler (ZRR)’, in the Netherlands. ZRR is the world’s first robotic recycling system. The complete system marks the advanced technology currently available for waste management.

The overall deal is worth over € 1 M. Baetsen’s recycling plant in Son will have the ZRR system being installed during February 2013. The waste management technology experts Busschers Recycling Techniek, Haaksbergen will cater to the requirements of installing the robotic recycling system.

Based on industrial robots controlled with artificial intelligence, the ZenRobotics Recycler system is capable of retrieving valuable raw materials from construction and demolition (CND) waste. With its service in one of advanced technological regions, Baetsen Recycling anticipates achieving a major position in innovative recycling technology.

According to Baetsen Group CEO, Hans van Roosmalen, with growing reduction in raw material supply, a permanent, sustainable solution has become the need of the hour for overcoming under-utilized potential in waste materials and the complexities in manual waste sorting. Baetsen is taking the initiative to reclaim valuable fractions from waste. Resource efficiency and materials recovery is a major concern of EU. Future upgrade and optimization will further target this area. Robotic recycling is a promising approach which is more safe, clean and efficient than the current ones.

According to Rainer Rehn, CCO, ZenRobotics, ZRR serves to be an energy-efficient system for retrieving raw materials from waste, ensuring valuable payback time. With stringent environmental requirements, this is a premium design win for ZenRobotics.
