With leading position in advanced medical technology, Saddleback Memorial Medical Center has been selected as the first Robotic Training Epicenter for gynecologic surgery in Orange County, California.
Being presented with this coveted recognition from Intuitive Surgical, Saddleback Memorial has been positioned in an elite category as the unique Epicenter in Orange County, in addition to being recognized as one among the three designated Epicenters on the West Coast and one of the 23 nationwide.
Operating as an official Epicenter training site, Saddleback Memorial will bring gynecologic surgeons from throughout the nation for training them on specialized surgical techniques through demonstrations on robotic surgeries being conducted in the Saddleback Memorial’s da Vinci Si surgical suite.
The teaching program at the Epicenter will be directed by Dr. Marc Winter, M.D., a renowned gynecologist and surgeon in Orange County.
According to the CEO for Saddleback Memorial, Steve Geidt, the medical center is honored on being recognized as an Epicenter training site and also with Dr. Winter taking lead on the robotic training program. Saddleback will continue to focus on new innovation and technological developments that will promote the well being and health of individuals, families and communities.
Based on da Vinci Si Robotic Surgical System, surgeons can adopt minimally invasive procedures for complex cases as this novel system provides high accuracy, flexibility and control, leading to less pain and scarring, speedy recovery, shorter hospital stays, lower risk of infection, and reduced blood loss.
Dr. Winter envisions robotic surgery to be a unique innovation achievement in women's surgeries over the last decade.
