Florida Hospital Tampa has successfully conducted the first single-site incision robotic surgery procedure for gallbladder removal. Removal of gallbladder through minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgery techniques creates no visible scar, leading to only minimal discomfort. The surgery can be completed within an hour, requiring hospital stay for just 4-6 h.
A general surgeon at Florida Hospital Tampa, Earl W. McAllister, MD is the first expert surgeon in the Tampa Bay area who successfully achieved this unique robotic-assisted gallbladder removal surgery, also termed as cholecystectomy.
