Research and Markets has declared that Wintergreen Research’s new report titled "Snake Robots Market Shares, Strategies, and Forecasts, Worldwide, 2012 to 2018" has been added to its offering.
Snake robots enable access to confined spaces such as grippers, airplane wings, surveillance, surgical tools, and cameras more easily and efficiently.
With the next generation units giving rise to exceptional movement mechanism and delivering systems that revolutionize traditional open surgery, there is rapid development in the worldwide snake robot markets.
Robots create automated process improvement in communications as well as surgery. Robots serve as automating systems that enhance precision in surgery. In addition, they provide easy access to spaces that are tightly packed and difficult to reach.
The lead author of the study, Susan Eustis stated that snake shapes need to be employed to achieve entry to confined spaces. Aircraft engine (by design), human body (by nature) or collapsed building (by failure), are part of confined spaces. Robotic and minimally invasive surgeries (MIS) are extensively being used as replacements for the existing open surgery. Traditional open surgeries are being upgraded or replaced by novel techniques such as radiation treatment, minimally invasive surgery (MIS), drug therapies, and emerging interventional surgical approaches complement robotic procedures.
In the process of robot assisted surgery, the patient-side cart us kept adjacent to the operating table. The electromechanical arms enable reaching the specifically selected initial ports. The arms are linked to metal tubes that can be inserted via the ports. The tubes enable the insertion of visualization and cutting instruments within the patient's body.
Companies mentioned in the report include HiBot, OC Robotics, Medrobotics, Sintef, Hirose Fukushima Lab ACM, Applied Robotics Technologies, Tokyo Institute of Technology Research Laboratories, and University of Michigan Mobile Robotics Lab Omnitread.
