Vigilus, an autonomous robot designed for patrol and report security, is the first, unique robot to take part in a TED talk.
Themed ‘Creative Potential’, TEDxFrontRange was hosted on May 10 at Loveland, Colorado. Presented with the topic "The Potential", Dr. Louise Gunderson and Dr. Jim Gunderson, the founders of Gamma Two Robotics, took part in the event. The Gundersons are entrepreneurs who strive to revolutionize the security robot Vigilus from advanced prototype to product. "The Potential of Autonomous Robots" was the topic for presentation at the event.
Dr. Jim Gunderson said that innovative and contemporary technology has achieved increased demand, wherein robots form a part. On the other hand, development of robots may pose moral and ethical dilemmas.
According to the CEO and co-inventor Dr. Louise Gunderson, the replacement of robots instead of humans is the current trend in workforce. The demand for security in industries, lack of employees, recruitment complexities, etc has inspired the company to design its first product for the security industry. However, autonomous robots will soon be available and will facilitate major conversations in the near future. Both the entrepreneurs ensure that following effective conversations, solutions and answers will be gained, thereby benefiting the society.
