SCHUNK continues its initiation in adding more universal gripping modules.
The parallel gripper PGN-plus has been followed by the addition of the centric gripper PZN-plus, and the small parts gripper MPG-plus.
SCHUNK has newly launched the PWG-plus, a compact design angular gripper with high performance. Available in multiple options, it complies with all environments and can be used for universal applications.
The compact design of this robust gripper includes the one-piece, high-strength aluminum housing, double oval piston drive, and the wear-free lever mechanism. Capable of acting as a powerhouse, it may or may not incorporate mechanical gripping force maintenance. Furthermore, it contains a broad range of accessories such as magnetic switches and inductive sensors.
The angular gripper is compatible with an extensive array of standard grippers including over 10,000 components. A bolt pattern similar to that of the PGN-plus universal gripper has been incorporated on the finger and bottom side that enables direct connection with quick-change jaw systems, compensation units, or valves.
The PWG-plus is being offered in six sizes for workpiece with weight ranging from 0.5 kg to 6.1 kg. In addition, it includes technical specifications such as a stroke per finger of 15°, an over travel angle per jaw of up to 3°, and gripping moments from 3.5 Nm to 120 Nm. The gripper can be used in both clean and polluted environments. It enables operation with camshafts and crankshafts, and can also be used for gantry loading of interlinked machining centers.
SCHUNK will exhibit at Germany’s Automatica Show, scheduled to take place from May 22 to May 25, 2012.
