Lumenpulse to Offer Grants for Walpole High School's Robotics Team

Lumenpulse, a designer and producer of efficient, architectural LED-based lighting solutions recently declared that it will sponsor the Walpole High School robotics team called the ‘Walpole RoboRebels’, as it is being trained for the upcoming annual For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) robotics competitions.

Established by inventor Dean Kamen, a not-for-profit organization called FIRST sponsors the global robotics competition. Each year, this event includes multiple teams of high school students competing to promote interest and participation in science and technology among the present-day youth community. Serving commercial, urban and institutional environments, Lumenpulse will inspire the Walpole RoboRebels team for a successful performance in the approaching event.

Since 2002-2003, the Walpole RoboRebels have been competing in FIRST competitions marking a decade of regional awards and top finishes. Every year, a team comprising 50 students make plans on how to raise funds for the competition. Walpole High teachers, Fred Hinck and Dustin Scott are the mentors who motivate and assist the students to construct a robot that is capable of meeting the FIRST robotics’ challenges.

Chief Technology Officer at Lumenpulse, Greg Campbell says that one of the main objectives of Lumenpulse is to leverage innovation and technology. In addition to providing sponsorship for the RoboRebels, Lumenpulse will also select some students for a six week summer internship to present them with a real-world engineering experience. Sponsoring the Walpole RoboRebels is an important factor that represents Lumenpulse’s commitment to the community.
