Liquid Robotics, a provider of ocean data services, has declared that BP has accepted to be PacX Challenge’s exclusive oil and gas corporate supporter. The PacX Challenge includes four Liquid Robotics' Wave Gliders, designed to comprehend the various potentials concealed in oceans.
These Wave Gliders are now on a scientific expedition, sailing across the Pacific Ocean. These marine robots, during the course of this hazardous journey across the remote areas of the Pacific Ocean, will collect scientific data such as wave heights, oxygen, ocean winds, weather, currents and barometric pressure. The exclusive series of data will then be transmitted and presented by the robots.
Liquid Robotics, together with BP, will present two-part grand prize based on PacX Challenge. The award will recognize those whose research is a true manifestation of the discovery in this scientific expedition. The grand prize features six months of free Wave Glider data services from Liquid Robotics and a $50,000 BP PacX Research Grant. The winner will receive the supporting grant of $50,000 from BP. Prizes and awards will be presented to global educators, students and scientists, in order to inspire them to make further advancements in ocean science and exploration.
Following the submission of a research abstract on PacX Challenge, a jury of ocean scientists from around the world will evaluate the abstract and select top 5 qualified members who will present their research proposals, followed by the selection of grand prizewinners.
The last date for abstract submission is July 17, 2012.
