Adept Technology has partnered with the Willow Garage. Adept’s robotic solutions for industries and Willow Garage’s robot operating system (ROS) software structure will provide solutions for industrial and production applications.
Both the companies work together with Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) on the ROS-industrial project for combining industrial robotics with open source software.
The experience of Adept in automation and SwRI in conversion of research techniques to practical applications will be influenced in the ROS-industrial project. The major aim of the project is to combine the exact need of industrial production with extensive improvement opportunity of the open source software.
The ROS for open source software and its advancements have been produced and supported by the Willow Garage respectively. The free ROS software can be used for individual and commercial purposes. Hence, the open sourcing facilitates transparency in adapting robotic technology and creating innovative techniques for robotics, which will enhance industrial production.
Mr. John Dulchinos, CEO and President of Adept stated that this is a massive development in robotics. Adept’s robotic technology with the open source technology of ROS expands the industrial robotics. The biggest library for reusing the software of robotic applications can be availed with low cost by the industrial manufacturers.
Mr. Steve Cousins who is the President and CEO of Willow Garage, expressed his happiness to partner with Adept. He added that the company will take the industrial robots to the next level by extending its applications whereas reducing its technical barricades for entering in the industry which includes the high amount of robot in production stage.
Mr. Clay Flannigan also expressed his contentment towards the collaborative efforts of the research institution with the robotic companies.
