Adventist Medical Center (AMC) has announced that it has added a Lisa Laser Surgical Tool to its da Vinci robot for performing obstetric and gynecology (OBGYN) related surgeries.
The da Vinci surgical robot adopts minimally invasive approach while performing complicated OBGYN procedures, thereby profoundly offering physical and emotional comfort to the patients. AMC is the only Medical Center on the West Coast to employ the Lisa Laser in da Vinci- assisted surgeries. In contrast to the conventional methods, the robotic arm of the da Vinci robot along with the visualization offered by the Lisa laser enable the surgeons to remove endometriosis to a greater extent. This equipment can also be used while performing hysterectomies, erratic bleeding, infertility procedures and pelvic prolapse.
Gay Sammons, Administrative Director of Perioperative Services, AMC has stated that their medical center offers the most competent tool for endometriosis surgeries and he added that this tool is more efficient when compared to the conventional laparoscopic methods for endometriosis, featuring quick recovery, enhanced chances for post-operative fertility, less pain and blood loss for the patients.
The da Vinci robot offers greater accuracy, improved range of movement, enhanced adroitness, quick access and magnified visualization to the surgeons. With the help of a magnified view screen system and master hand controls, the surgeons can use various surgical tools which are placed on the da Vinci’s arm, including the Lisa Laser. When compared to conventional open surgeries the incisions made during robotic surgery are very small. The high resolution 3-S stereo viewer displays the magnified images of the inner parts.
