Concord Medical Services Holdings has announced that it has launched the first CyberKnife Robotic Radiosurgery System also called the Cyberknife System within the medical network of Concord, which is located in Changhai Hospital, Shanghai.
The Cyberknife System is currently being used to treat patients in the hospital. The company is also in the process of installing the system in another hospital by 2012.
The Cyberknife System helps in delivering high and accurate dosages of radiation without causing high levels of exposure to radiation and without causing sideffects that arise out of radioactive therapy. Changhai Hospital is a 3A hospital with a capacity of 2,000 beds. According to the Chairman and CEO of Concord Medical Dr. Jianyu Yang, the introduction of the Cyberknife System will help the company to gain more experience in providing high quality oncology services.
Concord Medical specialises in developing and providing hospital management solutions and operates a network of diagnostic imaging centres. As of 2011, the company operated 128 network centres and partnered with 70 hospitals across 48 cities in China. The company has entered into long term agreements with top class hospitals to provide equipment for radioactive therapy and diagnostic imaging and has also undertaken management and daily operation of these centres that are located within the premises of the hospitals.
