Grandville VEX teams practice for World Qualifying Tournament
On February 11, 2012, the Grandville Middle School will accommodate over 300 high and middle VEX Robotics mentors and students across Michigan for the Grandville AutoDesk VEX Tournament. The event will include 24 teams who will contend against other leading schools in a number of robot challenges, and the winner will qualify for the VEX World Championship.
The Grandville AutoDesk VEX Challenge is one among several VEX robotic competitions, held throughout the year. VEX Robotics is a competitive robotics program developed for colleges and middle and high schools, and over 4,000 teams from 20 countries take part in over 250 VEX Robotics Competition events across the globe. The competition concludes in the spring season and unites leading qualifying teams from international, state and local VEX Robotics Competitions.
Grandville RoboDawgs’ Coach, Doug Hepfer stated that the future’s technological economy solely relies on current generation of youngsters, and hence it becomes essential to equip them with the necessary tools to become top innovators in the future. Hepfer added that the VEX tournament offers a practical learning experience to students and inspires them to appreciate robotics and pursue their careers in science and technology.
The VEX Robotics Competition provides a platform for students to develop key skills like leadership, teamwork and project management by building robots and competing with other students in an exciting environment.
The VEX Robotics Design System, a low-cost, scalable platform, is used to teach science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education across the globe.
