Lakes Surgery Center Installs Renaissance Robotic Spine System from Mazor Robotics

The Lakes Surgery Center in Michigan has installed the Renaissance spinal surgery system.

The Renaissance System was launched as part of the advanced series of Mazor Robotics Guidance System recently. The new improved Renaissance System was the first of its kind installed at an ambulatory surgery center.

According to the National Health Statistic Report, over 3000,000 people in the U.S opt for spinal surgery for getting relief from chronic back pain problems, like spinal disc diseases, herniations and protrusions. By installing the Renaissance system at the ambulatory center, spinal surgery can be performed on out-patients ensuring minimal recovery periods. The Renaissance system can be used for performing spinal endoscopy and other spine procedures. The Renaissance system will ensure that the spinal surgeries are performed with increased accuracy and minimum incisions are made for operating the spinal tumours. The intra-operative radiation is also reduced considerably by using the Renaissance System. The Renaissance system comprises a robotics device, which positions itself above the patient’s spine and a workstation that operates on advanced surgical planning software. The robotic system improves the accuracy of spinal implants and drastically reduces the scope for human errors such as misplaced screws, which end up in neurological complications.
