HG Education and Robotics will be organising a school holiday workshops for children where they will be working on LEGO Robots. The workshop is meant for children between the ages of six and eighteen and will be held at the Aldenham School for a week from 19 to 23 December between 10 am and 3 pm.
HG Education focusses on educating children on Robotics in KS1/2 and 3 as part of the national curriculum. The methods adopted for imparting the robotic concepts vary from class-room based methods to workshops and club activities.
The MD of HG Education and Robotics, Howard Grahame, recollected that they had organised three robotics workshops for children last year, LEGO Green City, focussing on green energy, Mission to Mars, and robots that play sports. He added that that the response to these workshops was encouraging with more than 70 children attending them. The children were also taught the concepts of radio controlled racing cars by giving them practical exposure and letting them build them on their own. Children learnt the basics of car mechanics and remote control concepts by participating in the workshop. HG makes use of LEGO based products for teaching children STEM concepts and making them literate in English. LEGO building helps in bringing out basic engineering concepts at a level, which children can easily understand. Using LEGO kits children are able to build robots of all kinds with abilities to move back and forth by utilising their creativity and concentration to the maximum level. Grahame revealed plans of expanding their coverage of schools and clubs to North West London, South Bedfordshire etc. HG Education will also be expanding the LEGO robotic products that they offer.
