Health Robotics Installs the i.v.STATION for Monoclonal Antibody Therapy Project at St-Antonius Hospital

Health Robotics has installed the i.v.STATION Robot at the St-Antonius Hospital in Netherlands. Health Robotics will also assist the hospital in sterile compounding of Monoclonal Antibody (mAbs) therapy for i.v.STATION and i.v.STATION ONCO.

i.v.STATION ONCO

Health Robotics announced that it will be introducing the mAbs and other upgrades to its robotic products pertaining to Oncology at the 46th Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). The clinical meet is scheduled to be held from 4 to 8 December at New Orleans.

A physician at St-Antonius hospital pointed out that by using i.v.STATION for dispensing mAbs, the safety and accuracy is increased and the wastage of such expensive medications is also brought down by a large extent. The executive vice president of Health Robotics explained that they will be collaborating with St-Antonius to develop protocols for the usage of oncology drugs with the help of their dedicated Mechatronic solutions. These protocols will be made available to their customers worldwide. Monoclonal antibody therapies that are done on human beings are highly complex and a costly procedures. These drugs are sensitive and possess low stability. Administering these drugs also needs to be done in the right manner to avoid complications; they are sensitive to mechanical stresses and therefore need to be skilfully administered through the syringe to avoid such stress. It is extremely important to ensure careful handling of these drugs in order to avoid wastage which may run into thousands of dollars.
