Hansen Medical has revealed its plans of giving a demonstration of the Magellan Robotic System at the Vascular InterVentional Advances (VIVA) conference, which is scheduled to be held in Las Vegas from 18 to 21 October.
Apart from the Magellan system, Hansen plans to display the NorthStar Robotic Catheter at the conference. NorthStar Robotic Catheter is useful in simplifying and improving the catheter navigation process during therapeutic intervention using the Magellan System. The catheter can be used in peripheral vasculature cases which involve navigation through challenging anatomy, chronic total occlusions, and so on.
The CEO of Hansen explained that the Magellan System is built using their advanced and flexible robotic technology by using a unique distal tip catheter control technique. He claimed that physicians will be able to conduct endovascular interventions safely and more efficiently using the Magellan System. The patients will be exposed to a much lesser degree of radiation in the Magellan Robotic System.
The Magellan System uses the Sensei X Robotic Catheter System, which is the leading concept in flexible robotic technology. The other significant features that the robotic system offers are complete robotic control of the distal tips of the inner and outer catheter sheaths and sufficient flexibility and extension to reach out to distant and challenging parts of the anatomy. The system leaves the open architecture feature of the Sensei system untouched to be used later in 6F therapeutic devices and the catheter is available in different lengths to suit the application.
