The D4C team was successful in winning the first place in two events that include Vegetation Removal and Surface Ordnance Removal out of a total of four events. The D4C team consisted of members from QinetiQ North America, ECC and Bobcat companies.
The events were part of the Robotic Range Clearance Competition (R2C2) organised by the US Airforce and US Army at Camp Guernsey in Wyoming.
The competition is being organised in order to promote innovative robotic technology ideas from the top companies in the industry. The events at the competition were categorized into four divisions, namely, automated vegetation clearance, surface debris clearance, subsurface anomaly excavation and geophysical mapping. A lot of risk and effort is involved in range clearance tasks. The robotically operated equipment from ECC and QinetiQ was able to successfully carry out the clearance activities without the intervention of humans, thereby saving money and also ensuring human safety.
ECC was started in the year 1985 and is owned by its employees. The company provides an extensive range of support services to customers in military field, construction industry and also energy management. ECC specialises in munitions response and ordnance clearing area, they have spent more than 20 years providing innovative designs in this area.
