Samadi Emphasises Importance of Robotic Prostratectomy for Prostrate Cancer Treatment

According to a recommendation from the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) on the safety and validity of the PSA screening, a panel of primary care physicians intend to advise their patients against taking the PSA screening for prostate cancer.

There is however a difference of opinion on the impending ban on the screening with one group claiming that the PSA test is unable to distinguish between the benign tumours and cancerous tumours, while another group, consisting mainly of patients, want the screening to stay as it is the only way they could detect prostate cancer. The second group fears that based on the recommendation from the USPSTF insurance companies might remove coverage of the testing procedure. The USPSTF considers the screening as harmful due to the biopsy procedure it involves; they however recommend the test for patients who have shown symptoms of prostate cancer.

Dr. Samadi however maintains that through these tests the chances of receiving insurance is reduced due to misguided guidelines that the government provides. He explained that prostate cancer is a disease whose symptoms do not surface until it is in advanced stages. Therefore he recommends that early detection and treatment of the disease is necessary. Dr. Samadi explained that robotic prostatectomy is a successful method for treating prostate cancer. He has used Samadi Modified Assisted Robotic Technique (SMART) surgery for treating prostate cancer and has been very successful in completely curing his patients. Till the time researchers come up with a more accurate and effective screening methods, the PSA test will continue to be used extensively.
