Eppendorf Video on epMotion Robotic Platform Features Chromosomal Laboratory

Eppendorf is conducting a campaign to promote their product epMotion by way of featuring the applications of the platform through epMotion videos. Chromosomal Laboratories has been featured in the epMotion video.

epMotion Platform

Chromosomal Lab has used several of the automated methods provided by the Eppendorf epMotion 5075-TMX Platform for validation of DNA samples. The epMotion platform stands out amongst robotic systems by way of its ability to provide a large number of single tube metal formats.

The President of Chromosomal Labs, Nicole Bolin, explained that the epBlue software and the scripts are easy for the user to understand and can be written quickly. She added that the software provides simulation option to the user using which he can test the script before running it on the actual samples, thereby saving reagents and other consumables. Bolin pointed out that the new extraction method was particularly useful in DNA sampling from hair roots, fingernails, tissue etc. When these methods were combined with epMotion platform the extraction time was greatly reduced. During a presentation at the 21st International Symposium on Human Identification, Bolin mentioned that the epMotion was instrumental in minimising the use of carcinogenic chemicals at their Lab.
