Japanese electronics company, Panasonic has announced that it will launch the HOSPI-Rimo, RoboticBed and a new model of its Hair Washing Robot at the 38th International Home Care & Rehabilitation Exhibition, which will be held in Tokyo from October 5-7th. All the three robots are aimed at providing assistance to people who lack mobility and those who need help in leading their lives.
The HOSPI-Rimo is designed to assist patients in communicating with their doctors or relatives who stay at a long distance. The robot uses mobility technology and high-performance visual communication technology from Panasonic and serves as an intermediary in communication. The company has already developed the HOSPI robot for automatic delivery of medicines and is currently being used in various hospitals in Japan and across the world.
The RoboticBed is basically an electric bed that can be changed into a wheel chair and can be changed back into a bed. The company initially introduced the prototype of the robot in 2009, which generated a lot of interest from caregivers and patients. Various changes with regard to the safety and practicality of the robot have been made based on the requests of caregivers and the recommendations given by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation under the Project for Practical Applications of Service Robots. The RoboticBed also comes with a Robotic Canopy, which has also been changed according to user requirements.
The company’s existing model of Hair-Washing Robot has been enhanced with more number of fingers and better mechanisms for the hair washing process. The robot can wet, shampoo, rinse, condition and dry hair to provide a wholesome hair washing experience.
