ESAB Welding and Cutting Products have started a new automation process center in South Carolina. The inauguration of the center was done by the South Carolina Governor on the 29th of August.
The premises spans 5,000 sq.ft and comprises a training room, demonstration area and meeting facilities that are required for ESAB’s welding automation products. Among the other special invitees were the Senators of South Carolina and other local dignitaries.
The demonstration laboratory houses a complete set of functional automation equipment like tractors, boom equipment, new Telbo telescope from ESAB, welding gantries, side beam welders and a fully operational hybrid laser arc welding system. The automated welding equipment from ESAB include cutting and material handling systems that cater to high production manufacturing systems such as pipe mill, bridge/steel industries and wind tower. Andrew Masterman, the CEO of ESAB, explained that through the new facility they will be in a better position to showcase their automation solutions to customers in North America. He added that with the help of the training room they will be able to provide help to their customers in utilising the technology to its fullest. Some of the technologies offered are twin submerged arc welding, friction stir welding, hybrid laser welding and narrow gap welding. The facility showcases all the available automated welding solutions from simple tractor welding to sophisticated hybrid laser systems. The next agenda that ESAB is focusing on is organising a series of customer symposiums that will launch the new facility in key markets.
