TARDEC Announces 2010 Robotics Rodeo Event

The US Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) has declared that robotics experts from 50 organizations will participate in the 2010 Robotics Rodeo event which will be held at Fort Benning GA from October 12 to 15, 2010.

This event is aimed at encouraging the robotics sector, educating robotics developers and examining the present situation of artificial intelligence and ground robotic technology. It was reported that these dignitaries will take part in activity-based events and will demonstrate their innovative robotic technologies showcasing the role of unmanned systems in the present and future military segments for meeting various tasks like humanitarian assistance, catastrophe relief etc. Additionally, members representing commercial and defense sectors will also attend the event for offering their valuable comments.

Dr. Jim Overholt, Senior Research Scientist in Robotics, TARDEC has stated that their goal for the present year is to improve small robotic platforms and joining the unmanned and manned systems. He added that the Robotics Rodeo will be a significant, attention-seeking and encouraging event which can profoundly benefit their military forces.

The previous Robotics Rodeo event was conducted at Fort Hood, TX in August 2009 and was co-organized by TARDEC and III Corps. The 2010 event is co-sponsored by the Army’s Maneuver Center of Excellence.
