According to the market projections for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Hood Technology, a provider of stabilised camera systems to small UAVs such as the ScanEagle and Integrator platforms, is well positioned to exploit the boom in the UAV market.
The projections show promising growth of UAVs and the sensors that they house. These findings were published in an article in the Earth Imaging Journal by the Teal Group Corporation. The products from Hood Tech were extensively discussed in the article.
The article begins with a photograph of the launch and retrieval system that was developed and manufactured by Hood Tech mechanical. The opening statement of the article points out that UAVs dominate the growth of the aerospace industry. The article predicts that the spending on UAVs is poised to double in the next 10 years. This data was taken from a recent market study by the Teal Group titled ‘World Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Systems 2011’.
With its success with developing and manufacturing stabilised camera systems in the past, it is expected that Hood Tech Vision will dominate the small UAV sector in the coming years. According to the authors of the article, the UAV electro-optical/infrared sensors market has entered a zone of steady and consistent growth. It is estimated that the spending of US alone on these UAVs will boost the revenue to 1.7 billion by 2020. Hood Tech can also leverage its new system, the Alticam 11 EOIR2, which has infrared and optical camera features along with a full line of features tilt, zoom and scan capabilities.
