Sanyo Homes has released an Android based robot for integrating smart home applications. According to Tech Crunch, the Android powered communication robot is called Mirai Sanzo and would be made available for sale in Japan from the 15th of July.
The robot is spherical in shape measuring 22 cm in diameter. The robot is part of the integrated smart homes that Sanyo markets in Japan.
The details of the Android version, on which Mirai Sanzo runs, have not yet been revealed. The robot consists of a touch screen with touch sensors in the background, which activates and de-activates various devices around the house. The devices, which the robot is linked with, are the WiFi and voice recognition. For instance, by voicing a simple command like ‘Switch on the air-conditioning in the living room’, the owner sets the robot in action. The robot makes sure that the command is carried out immediately. The robot is also capable of switching on/off floor heating devices or even filling the bath tub with hot water when needed to take bath. In situations when the fire alarm is triggered, the robot instantly sends an email to the smart phone. The manufacturers of Mirai Sanzo have devised a method, by which the robot is able to express his state of mind by glowing in different colours, like red for anger.
