Multivac has developed a highly efficient module for automating integrated packaging lines called Multi-Robot H240. The module is equipped with a gripper system, which can be easily modified according to the application.
The Multi-Robot is capable of working on a variety of products with different cycle times and weights. Apart from aiding the loading and unloading, the robot helps in separating and positioning products after they are packed. It also ejects the rejected products as NOK packages and loads the outer packaging and boxes.
The robot is capable of loading cavities with food material, which is very useful for the packer in separating the packs or in enclosing them for the next step in packaging. The Multi-Robot has the ability to create almost any packaging model and makes the secondary packaging as optimal as possible. It is possible to insert intermediate layers or dividers into the Multi-Robot automatically in order to utilise the volume of the box to the maximum extent. Packages having weights up to 1000 g can be packed by the robotic system.
Multivac has already demonstrated how the Multi-Robot can be integrated into automated packaging lines at the Interpack 2011. The system comes with an HMI interface that is user-friendly, through which the operator can control the machine. The H240 is armed with an in-built control mechanism, which can be used whenever the need arises. The entire unit is made up stainless steel; hence, wet cleaning can be done. The stainless steel is abrasion resistant and durable.
