Tesco has created the Fijit Robot, which is expected to become the top toy for the year 2011. This toy is a squishy robot that entertains children by dancing and telling jokes.
With the success of the Fijit Robot, Tesco claims that it is likely to become the top selling toy firm for this Christmas. Fijit Robot is capable of entertaining children but poses to be an irritant to the parents. The robot measures 1 ft in height and comes with a soft plastic skin. The colour of the Fijit’s skin comes in a number of pastel colours. Fijit responds to some simple commands from human beings. Some of their responses are closing their eyes and snoring when you say goodnight and laughing when tickled and reciting some 100 pre-set phrases when asked to chat.
Fijits come with a list of amusing jokes such as the knock knock jokes. In America, Fijits are being made by Mattel and are more focussed in attracting girls into buying the robot. The Fijit is capable of interacting with iPhones. Tesco is highly optimistic of the sales margins from Fijit and are confident that they would push down other toys like Lego, Buzz Light year etc down the Christmas sales list.
