The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College (OCtech) has been selected to be an authorized vocational training center in the North American region by Festo and its Learning Systems Division. Festo manufactures automation technology systems and components.
OCtech would be the only place to offer automation training with the FESTO brand.The company’s brand is popular at both national and international levels for its brilliance and merit in innovation, engineering and leadership with regard to industrial technology training.
The training center was inaugurated on the 6th April 2011 at 8:30 am at the Anne S. Crook Transportation and Logistics Center in the presence of OCtech officials along with officials from FESTO Germany and FESTO USA.
According to Dr. Anne S. Crook, who is the retiring President of OCtech, the designation would promote OCtech as a national and regional leader in training and is ideally location in the center of the region’s global logistics triangle. She further added that this alliance with FESTO would not only give their students unique opportunities but would also give local area and companies in North America a chance to train on automation equipment in the Orangeburg area.
The FESTO/OCtech training lab features sophisticated automation training systems, which will allow students to learn the basics of industrial automation technology such as information technology, sensor technology, robotics, PLC controls and fluid power.
The Manager of the Global Training and Business Development, Yvonne Salazar stated that they are proud to designate OCtech as a FACT Center Silver.
