Valmet will supply automation to enfinium’s energy-from-waste project located at Kelvin Way in Sandwell and Dudley in the UK. The order was placed by Acciona, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for this facility.
The order was included in Valmet’s orders received of the first quarter 2023. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The automation system will be taken over by the end customer in September 2025.
“The end customer has been satisfied with our Valmet DNA system at the Parc Adfer, Kemsley and Ferry Bridge waste-to-energy sites delivered in 2018 and 2015. Our agility and flexibility to deal with Acciona was a key success factor in securing the new order. For Valmet, this project is important as it further expands our market share on the UK energy-from-waste market,” says Henar Martinez, Sales Manager, Energy Process Systems, Automation Systems, Valmet.
After starting full operation in 2025, enfinium Kelvin Limited will be capable of processing up to 395,000 tonnes of non-recyclable household and business waste using residual waste to generate 44MW (gross) of baseload energy per annum, equivalent to the needs of more than 95,000 UK households.
