Insitu Pacific, a UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) manufacturer and service provider, has been appointed as the distributor of iRobot’s range of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) in Australia.
This would facilitate the training and logistics for the New Zealand and Australian customers who would purchase and operate the iRobot UGVs. Insitu Pacific is to establish a facility in Brisbane, where full repair services, onsite training and inventory storage would be carried out in support of iRobot services and products in the Australasian region.
According to Andrew Duggan, the Managing Director of Insitu, the highest standard of industry collaboration was necessary for the delivery of advanced unmanned systems, and the combination of Insitu with iRobot would provide customers in New Zealand and Australia the best UGV capabilities. They would also team up to evaluate the benefits that could be obtained by the combination of UGV and UAS in a range of operational settings.
Since 2009, Insitu Pacific has offered unmanned aircraft systems with the ScanEagle UAS, while iRobot has provided around 4000 UGVs to civil defense and military forces all over the world, inclusive of the iRobot PackBot, which is one of the highly successful robots, which have been battle tested, and SUGV, which was developed along with The Boeing Company for infantry missions and dismounted mobile operations.
Robert Moses, who is the President of iRobot has revealed that they were delighted to work along with Insitu Pacific for the growth of iRobot products in the region. This facility for maintenance and training in Australia would help them to give top class service to their customers.
