The IRB 760 Palletising Robot developed by ABB Robotics was unveiled at the AUSPACK PLUS 2011. It is a 4-axis robot, which is capable of providing full layer palletizing and can rotate heavy and big products at high speeds with utmost care. Its compact design facilitates its fitting into an already existing packaging line.
This robot is the fastest of its kind and can considerably shorten cycle times, thereby increasing productivity for full layer palletizing. Its reach of 3.2 m and payload capacity of 450 kg helps it to lift heavy objects along with the full pallet layers. It includes features such as long reach and torque wrist and this helps it to achieve 880 cycles per hour at full load.
The IRB 760 utilizes the QuickMove and TrueMove patented motion control software of ABB, and carries out palletizing with high path accuracy and smooth movements. Its rigid and robust design made to comply with automotive industry standards leads to low maintenance expenses and high uptime. It also features integrated process cabling to extend life and decrease wear. ABB gives a three year warranty package that includes the ABB Wireless Remote Service, which would help experts in ABB to observe and monitor the robots and suggest repair and maintenance work when needed. This package is called RoboCare.
RobotStudio includes Palletising PowerPac and gives users a friendly software, which could be run on regular PCs and help those users who have minimum experience with robot programming to develop simulations and programs along with designing palletizing installations. The software could configure palletizing systems, which would reduce the programming time by almost 80%.
