On the Scottsdale Healthcare Day, Golf fans can test drive the da Vinci Surgical robot made available by the Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak Hospital and displayed at the RR Donnelly LPGA Founders Cup at the Phoenix’ Wildfire Gold Club located at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa.
Prominent surgeons from Phoenix would be present to field queries about the robot and minimally invasive surgery, which would take place at the Scottsdale hospital in Desert Ridge. Dr Mike Janicek, Dr Andrew Kassir and Dr JulieAnn Heathcott would be present from 7 am to 4 pm to discuss about the hospital’s latest medical technology and gynecologic and urologic surgery, which would be performed by the robot.
The Mako RIO System used for partial knee replacements would also be showcased with Dr Stephan Tarlow in tow, to answer questions and throw light on this new surgical robot. The official medical sponsor for the RR Donnelly LPGA Founders Cup is Scottsdale Healthcare. Tiffany Joh, Cindy LaCrosse and Wendy Ward, LPGA players took a tour of the Scottsdale Healthcare facilities to meet the orthopedic patients there and also try out the da Vinci robot in the operating room. According to Jean Knoedler, who is the hospital administrator, the visit was enjoyable and pleasant for both the players and the patients.
Grace Park, a resident of Scottsdale and six time winner of LPGA tournament, is planning to play for Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation at the Founders Cup as it is her designated charity. Park observed that she had wanted to select a local nonprofit organization, which was involved in research and cancer treatment as her mother had been diagnosed as having breast cancer. She had made her choice based on the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare and the Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak Hospital. The tickets at a discounted rate for the Founders cup are being sold online and half the purchase price would be given as donations by LPGA to the Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation.
