Health Robotics, a leading global supplier of intravenous medication robots, plans to unveil its next-generation Cancer Therapy Robot at the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) in Vienna, in April 2011.
The company has completed the preliminary research, development and testing activities for the i.v.STATION ONCO robot.
The sterile compounding robotic device is Health Robotics’s third automated solution. It is complementary to CytoCare and i.v.SOFT Assist – the company’s other sterile compounding solutions for Intravenous Cancer Therapy, and includes tested technologies from these solutions. The i.v.STATION ONCO has the facility to automatically compound, cap and label commercially-available syringes and bags of different sizes and brands. The process takes place in a negative pressure within an ISO-5 environment. The robot is smaller, faster and less expensive than other comparable robots in the market. The i.v.STATION ONCO does not have the facility to perform sterile compounding with ampoules, small vials, glass or plastic bottles, elastomeric infusors and CSTDs.
Generale de Sante, a leading private hospital group in France, and the Bolzano General Hospital in Italy are partnering with Health Robotics in testing the new robot. The i.v.STATION ONCO is expected to hit the market in the first-quarter of 2012.
