Loomis Chaffee Team Qualifies for Massachusetts Robotics Championship Event

The Loomis Chaffee Robotics Team qualified for the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) by winning the Merrimack Valley Regional Competition. The Chaffee robotics team competed with 20 other high school teams from New England.

The Loomis Chaffee robot called, "Twitch,” recorded a high score of 9-0 during the competition. The LC team can now participate at the Massachusetts Championship event and make its way to the FTC World Championship Event in St. Louis, Missouri. The winning team has also secured the "Finalist" status in four of the seven award categories. The award categories listed includes Motivate, Innovate, and Design, as well as the most coveted award, the Inspire Award.

At FTC, teams consisting of up to 10 students compete with each other by designing, building, and programming their robots. The reusable robot kit can be programmed for a variety of languages. Teams design and build robots based on sound engineering principles. The winning team secures awards based on other factors such as community outreach, design, and other real-world activities.
