East Lake Students to Participate in Regional Robotic Competition

Students at the East Lake High school formed a robotic team called Krunch to design and build robots for this year’s FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) competition. The students of Team Krunch unveiled their robotic creation for public view.

Michelle Hawley, a senior student, stated that their four-wheeled robot was capable of rotating in all directions. He also added that their robot comes equipped with an eight-foot claw to pick up circle, square or triangle shaped inner tubes and hang it on pegs that are positioned at various points. He further explained that the teams can double their score if their robot places all the tubes on the top peg.

Team Krunch demonstrated their robot on Monday. Students at East Lake High will participate in the regional competition soon. They aspire to get into the championship round in St. Louis, MO in April.
