Vo-Tech team, Parallel Universe, to Participate in FIRST Robotics Challenge

A Robotics team, consisting of 30 students, named Parallel Universe from Union County Vocational Technical School will compete with more than 2,000 teams across the world in the yearly competition sponsored by FIRST (For inspiration and recognition of Science and Technology).

The team from the award winning Vo-Tech School will face the FIRST Robotics Challenge on March 12 in New York City.

The competing teams are expected to build two fully functional robots that are capable of carrying out specific tasks. This time the students must design and build these robots within a time span of six weeks. During the competition, the team members are expected to raise funds, establish a healthy team spirit and complete building specialized robots within a strict deadline.

The aspiring students of Parallel Universe are working after school hours to complete its robots on time. They are also actively involved in organizing fund-raising activities. The Parallel Universe team has to build one primary robot, for lifting tubes and placing them on a horizontal pole, and one minibot that is capable of climbing up a vertical pole.
