Ursuline’s Robotics Team Prepares to Compete in FIRST Robotics Challenge

Students at Ursuline Academy in Dedham are preparing to compete in the upcoming tech challenge sponsored by FIRST (For inspiration and recognition of Science and Technology).

The students belonging to the robotic team from Ursuline have already designed and built their own army of electro-mechanical systems that are capable of performing specific tasks.

The school received financial support from a parent to fund Ursuline’s robotics program. The FIRST robotics competition renders a world of knowledge to the students about the benefits of technology, engineering and science. The robotic club at Ursuline motivates high school students from grades 9 through 12 to enter into engineering degree programs.

Ursuline Academy also conducts weekly robotics classes for seventh and eighth grade students. The curriculum for the program was designed based on a line of construction toys and programmable robots manufactured by the Lego Group. Through these weekly sessions, students are encouraged to construct tiny robots, using user-friendly kits, based on simple programming techniques.
